Northeastern V. Fordham LC V. UVM

Have you submitted appeals to the financial aid offices at Northeastern and Fordham? It is certainly worth a try! Especially if things have changed financially for your family since you submitted 2019 financials for the FAFSA and CSS. I think the appeals forms are typically straight forward and not that time consuming. The worst they could say is no but they might give you more!!

Yes at UMaine, not sure of the others, I believe but a lot of kids on the NY/CT line get instate at UCONN.

I appealed at Northeastern for both financial and merit, financial aid hasn’t gotten back to me yet, but I hear back about any merit scholarships on April 23.

Your hard work to date will ensure you will do well in your business classes at UCONN - doing well in college and graduating debt free is your reward for your hard work.

I know it hurts and it sucks. I had to tell my daughter in sophomore year that we couldn’t afford the schools she liked, and that she had to apply to places ‘beneath her’ such as Alabama in order to get merit aid. It was hard. But now she is a very happy junior at Alabama, about to intern at a major consultancy firm this summer, and enjoying herself and exploring another part of the country. It WILL work out. Good luck.

Go to UCONN, ace your classes and have fun debt free!

So, basically it’s UConn v. Uvermont.
Can you calculate net price for each? Not list the debt you’d take on, not the scholarships amount, but the actual net price (as explained in #17).
Did you apply to any university that “meets need”?

yes, you get a discount at Vermont!! If this doesn’t populate just google New England Tuition Exchange

Wow, @tsbna44: that’s FANTASTIC !!

@Jwald7
Is there a major from the list showing reduced/instate tuition at UVermont that matches one of your interests ?

We have it in the South - called the Academic Common Market. You don’t always find the major you want but you might find one close - like UVM shows Data Science. Not sure how it works with the scholarship though. Was just a thought.

Yeah I’ll look into it! Thanks for the help!

Good luck.

New England Regional Tuition Break does not appear to offer relief for a CT student studying business at UVM.

It’s not a blanket program, it varies by program.
