My friend got into both. He wants to stay in the city (New York), but is under the impression that Northeastern has a better academic reputation. He also likes the co-op program, but not that he'll be in college for four years. I personally don't know much about it. He plans on majoring in business. Money is not an issue. So, help me out as to what to tell him. Which school should he choose, overall based on location, business program, opportunities after college, etc.?

boooooooooooooomp.

for business, i would definitely go with northeastern. Its business program is very good and the coop program is very good for business. also i think the location in boston is better than fordham’s in the bronx (although i’ve never visited fordham, but i’ve heard the area is unsafe).

Where does he plan to work after graduation? Fordham has a stronger rep in the NYC area than does Northeastern, and Northeastern has a stronger rep in the Boston area. Both are good schools, so it’s not as if he’s doing himself a disservice by attending either.

Northeastern’s undergrad business program outranks that of Fordham on many rankings lists, but again, both schools have great reps, so I’m not sure how concerned he wants to be about that.

If he did choose Fordham, he should do 1-2 co-ops while he studies, and that’ll help him get one of the major things he likes about NEU into his Fordham experience.

Both great schools but for business i would choose Northeastern. Coop is a 6 month full time commitment and in finance you do rotations throughout various groups within financial institutions. This will trump any two month internships.

Another vote for Northeastern
