Northeastern vs. American...

So, I've been admitted to both, and as I'm a National Merit Finalist, I think the aid between the two of them will be pretty competitive.

I know I have full tuition from Northeastern, and am hoping for a similar offer from American.

I'm super undecided, both in terms of major, and which school I should go for. Could someone with more experience in the matter give pros and cons of both in relation to each other?

I know I want to do internships, and I know I want to study abroad. Boston and D.C. are both equally exciting cities for me. I'd like reasonably nice dorm rooms (no roaches or that sort of thing! XD)

Thank you! :)

P.S. Is it bad etiquette to put this topic on the American board as well?

If you are planning on majoring in poli sci or public admin, then DC would be very enticing. For anything else, I would recommend Northeastern, but I’m biased.

That’s what I was thinking Tom. American was really up there because it also had good internship programs, but…I’m starting to realize most of those programs are poly-sci related!

You could co-op in D.C.

And go ahead and post it on the American board-- you need to hear from both sides to make an informed decision.

I’d go along with Tom, but if you’re looking at any liberal arts discipline even beyond politics/government fields, I’d lean towards American. If you’re looking at healthcare or technical fields, I’d pick Northeastern. But either way, you’ve got a great outcome ahead of you. We all should have such problems
Best of luck to you.

We had another poster making the same decision a few weeks ago so this thread has some input. I’ve posted on the other thread and would say the same thing to you… both good schools, and if costs are similar, it might come down to where you feel will be the best fit.
