I’ve been admitted to both and am stuck. Northeastern is so appealing because of the CoOps and Cal poly because of the learn by doing. Which would better prepare me for a career in civil?
As I understand Cal Poly is having better reputation for Engineering. I am also in difficulty to choose from Northeastern, Purdue and Rose Hulman.
@jmasterflash
What’s your parents ’ budget?
If you calculate (tuition+fees+r/b) - (scholarships /grants) = what are the results for each?
Where do you want to to work west coast or East Coast?
A big part of NEU is the co-op program - while Cal Poly also has it, it’s very much a part of the culture at NEU. Both will offer quality engineering programs and name recognition, though regionality will make a difference. If you plan on going to the west coast, Cal Poly would make more sense. If you want to be on the East coast, NEU would be more recognizable.
As @MYOS1634 mentioned, finances are also an important factor.
