Northeastern vs GWU for Engineering

I am trying to decide between NEU and GWU as an engineering student. I would love to hear opinions comparing these schools, particularly considering Engineering.

I am very excited by being accepted into both, I want to go to a school in a good city environment (I'm from the "rural suburbs"), have a decent social life, and a school which has good job programs (coops, internships and job opptys on graduation).

Boston is THE college town, NEU seems to have a higher ranked engineering program, the engineering coop programs sound great, seems to have a good and growing local reputation.

Washington seems to be the second best town (at least in the northeast), has a little warmer weather, the engineering school seems to be getting investment and attention, the DC area is good for jobs, and GWU seems to be more widely known.

It's a toss-up! Opinions and/or experience welcome

Well the biggest obvious difference is the co-op program at Northeastern, which is what brings students to NEU in the first place. They want the co-op experience: do you? As you know, NEU’s program is 5 years, with two semesters “off” while you’re doing co-op. The plus side is considerable professional experience before you graduate and the chance to earn real money while you’re still a student. The negative side to co-ops is that they do somewhat affect the school’s atmosphere: after your sophomore year, at any given point a bunch of your friends will be mostly off campus doing co-ops. GWU will have a more traditional feel to it - and overall it is better known than Northeastern – though as you know NEU’s engineering is highly respected.

In the end, I’d choose based on finances and your feeling on the co-op experience.
