I plan on majoring in some type of engineering. Lehigh is slightly cheaper, but not by much. Any incite on either school would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

My son has the same problem, only reversed. I think he will go with Northeastern due to price and co-ops.

Lehigh ranks better for engineering than NEU. But there are other factors, of course. NEU city of Boston, co-op program, 16000 undergrads.
Lehigh 6000 undergrads, more of a traditional college campus (quite the slope though), big Greek network.

My daughter was admitted to Lehigh and NEU (along with Syracuse, RPI, CMU) for Civil Engineering. She’s narrowed it down to NEU, RPI, Syracuse. Decisions decisions.

Yeah, that’s why I’m having such trouble deciding. I absolutely love Boston, but NEU might be too big for me, while at the same time Lehigh is small, but not in as good of a location. It’s tough since Lehigh is the better school for less money. A month will never be enough time to decide.

Have you visited both schools on an admitted students day? They really do seem like very different schools.

I have not. Both admitted students days are on the same day. But I have visited both schools. Like I said, I know they are completely different, and that’s more why I’m having a difficult decision. They both have pros and cons.

My D just recently went through that same difficult decision as a science major. She is now registered at NE. She loves Lehigh’s campus but also loves the city of Boston. What it came down to for her were the opportunities that Northeastern can provide for her future due to location and co-ops. She also put a lot of thought into the social life. Lehigh’s very present Greek life was not a priority for her. Lehigh is a wonderful school with a great reputation in the field of engineering but ask about their intern opportunities. It’s unfortunate that you are unable to make both admitted students days. My suggestion to you is to contact Northeastern about connecting with professors in your major to discuss Northeastern’s program. A professor contacted my D a few months ago via phone and then connected personally on campus. They appear to be very friendly and quick to answer any questions. Good luck with your decision!
