I’ve been accepted to these 3 schools for Computer Science and I have a hard time deciding which one I prefer.
It would be helpful if you guys gave me the clear advantages and disadvantages of each school or maybe ur experiences with certain ones.
Thanks!
Bottom line cost of each school for your parents and you?
Cost is not a problem as we can afford each school, but UT Dallas would be considerably cheaper. I just want to see if Purdue or Northeastern are worth the extra cost.
If cost isn’t a big problem, I think either would be worth it. I’ve commented on another of your threads, but again I would ask about fit. What are you looking for in college in general? These schools are each pretty different environments.
Have you visited each school?
Northeastern happens to have a school solely for computer science.
@PengsPhils I’m looking for a college that is academically focused and not too big on greek life and sports. I read that UTD has a minimal social scene, but I haven’t read too much about NEU. What kind of student would “fit” here?
Northeastern also has a similarly small greek/sports focus. It sounds like Purdue probably isn’t as good of a fit with 20% greek involvement. Not a ton, but a lot compared to Northeastern/UTD which are around 5% (can’t find the exact numbers at the moment but +/- 2 on both would be a safe bet).
Northeastern’s philosophy is to mix and balance the practical and academic (as you would expect with co-op), so you find a lot of grounded and mature students in my experience. People have fun but aren’t going crazy every weekend. A big part of Northeastern’s social scene is Boston as a city - most students enjoy going out and exploring, finding a new place to eat or thing to do.
@bubblylaugh is right - CS is its own college, and it was actually the first school in the US to make it its own college too!
