norther va kids don't like southern va kids at uva

amen.

i don't even see how those two things are analogous.

apparently both of your sarcasm receptors are kaput

sarcasm? i think not.

tool .

pwned. .

LOL! Supposedly, "Virginia is for Lovers" right? No one mentioned haters.

pwned? he said one word... w/e

Well, I think the resentment comes from the fact that I can see people at my school who were rejected with 1400s, high GPAs, and solid ECs, while UVa's SAT and other stats are dragged down a lot by other regions. It just sucks that we have to suffer...hence the northern va types "don't like southern va kids at uva."

I put this question to my son, home on Thanksgiving break from UVA. He said that normally, people don't even think much about this. (We're from Fairfax County, in Northern VA).

He does notice that kids from Northern VA seem to do better than other kids academically. But, there seems to be no seething resentment.

Out-of-state kids that he knows are mostly from private schools, and seem to do better still than Virginians.

Just our .02.

Hi Redbeard ! How does your son like engineering at UVA ? Alas, we couldn't talk our S2 into applying to UVA. He currently awaits VT's ED decision, & says if he's deferred that he will apply to UVA. (because he's not thrilled with his backup school of Penn State) Haha - isn't that backwards ?! I keep thinking of the joke : What do UVA & VT engineers have in common ?....They were both admitted to Tech :) But you probably already knew that one !
