Northern Boy Looking to go down South.. chances at UGA?

Hey I am from Pittsburgh and I am planning on applying to UGA early action... What are my chances of getting in?

I went to a large public high school that is very competitive
I have done a lot of community service, but I do not want to bore you guys with all the details
I have a 3.6 weighted and 3.1 nonweighted gpa.
I scored a 1270/1910 on my SAT
I plan on applying early action (will that help?)
I have played soccer and basketball for my high school

I think thats it... any feedback would be great!

anyone??????????

I think you're in.

you should be in

You'll probably be in. If you're simply looking to go down south, you should definitely consider applying to some other schools. Some possibilities that you might want to look into are FSU, Clemson, USC, Alabama, Auburn, etc. Those would all fit you pretty well (some being closer to a "reach" than others).

thanks everyone for the feedback

I wouldn't call it a shoe-in as others are saying. 63% of the accepted students at UGA had above a 3.75. Only 4% of the accepted students had below a 3.25, which is where your 3.1 GPA puts you.

The test scores are certainly good enough, and applying EA will help, but don't let this be the only application you send out. I'll call it a match, because while the GPA isn't there, and you're OOS, the test scores are good enough.

so does georgia only look at unweighted gpa?

Out of state at Georgia is probably less competitive than in state thanks to HOPE.

what about miami of ohio, penn state, dayton, west virginia, south carolina, elon?

no you dont
