I graduated Linfield in 2007 and was involved with almost everything, and my sister is graduating Willamette this year, so feel free to drop me a line with any questions about Linfield, or to a lesser extent, Willamette.

collegemaw: I am tickled that your D liked both. Linfield was almost my D2’s choice and Willamette was a top contender for D1. I adored both schools and knew that my kids would have a great education and a fabulous social experience at either. UP was also very much in the mix.

We did the PNW college tour spring break of S’s Jr. Year. We toured WSU, UofIdaho, Whitman, Reed, and Lewis and Clark. On seperate day trips from the Seattle area we hit Western, UPS, and PLU.

S also applied to Willamette and Linfield. We encouraged him to apply to Linfield as a safety, since we learned on this board about their generous merit aid (thanks, eps. Historymom). He visited UO, Willamette and Linfield spring of Sr. year after acceptance. Willamette’s merit package ended up pretty generous, but not enough to sway him from Linfield. His cost to attend is less than UW, and he liked McMinnville better than Salem. He has had a great freshman year so far, and feels very good about his decision to attend.

Feel free to PM for more info.

Just finished with S, now it’s D’s turn! We did Uof Portland and Lewis and Clark a couple of weeks ago, and just returned from spring break that included Harvey Mudd/CMC. So far she is enthusiastic about them all:)

Will work on my campus vibe reports, got 2 done and then this ‘crud’ came back with a vengeance last night, per the Doc it turned into a bacterial infection chest and sinus.

The only other time D1 and I visited a college (last fall- PLU) I also got sick…sure hope this isn’t going to be a trend!

Son of Opie and husky82 we’ll probably have some questions for you at some point.

We’ll be poking away at the Washington ones-WWU, UW, UPS, SU, SPU- some will be summer visits just to see campus and do tour/admissions, then go back to favorites that she gets in at. Possibly a couple before school’s out this year.

And she did hear a couple other families (at Willamette!) talking about Whitworth, Whitman so she may consider applying–but I don’t hear much good financial reports from those?

I’m hoping she’ll also apply UO Honors even if we can’t visit, using that WUE program.

This is a great thread!

Going to take more meds and sleep now…

collegemaw: Dont know about the need based aid, but they do have some nice merit scholarships available at Whitworth:

Thanks for that kumitedad—are you doing any college visits this spring/summer?

This summer only to Thomas Aquinas in S Cal. In her Senior Year she may visit some during fall so that she can attend classes and see what the campus vibe is. Whitworth specifically told us during the summer visit that it is important to visit them during the school year to get a feel for the campus atmosphere.
