Do you know any apartments on the north side of campus? I looked online and check craigslist regularly, but to no avail. I'm wondering if you have names of good places, and do you think they'll have openings for the spring semester (move in around December)?

Thanks

hey smallz, i might let you move in in december to my north side apt.
rent's about 775 a month (unless you and my room-mates don't want parking, which is probably what will happen, in which case rent is like....~$33 cheaper) and then utilities (water, electricity, heat, internet). I still have to work some things out (i'm trying to move to south side) but once i have things set i'll definitely prefer to leave my lease to you instead of some random person. my place is on hearst, one block west of milvia. it's a huge 3 bdrm apt, you'd just have to furnish your own room. the other 2 room-mate's are chill, and don't party much (one enjoys cigarrettes on the balcony) and are all pretty quiet, although are sociable. PM me, and i'll keep you informed. as soon as i secure or can secure a room for next sem for myself i'm gonna put it on craigslist. but untill then if anyone comes to me personally lemme kno.

no kidding tho, this place is HUGE and in a quiet neighborhood, 2 blocks from university, with a bus stop right there. I don't dig apt. living so i'm moving into a frat, but the room-mate's are 2 good friends of mine. we pay for cable right now, but if i leave they'd probably dump it.

Walk around northside and ask. Plenty of the landlords here go by word of mouth.

how does $1175 for a studio condo sound?

Another question, how much does cable TV cost here? (w/ or w/o a box)

North Berkeley Properties bought my building out this summer. We're 1 block from the West Loop (Shattuck x Addison, just on the other side of the block on Oxford), right downtown. Reasonable-ish for a downtown, next to campus apartment.

Recently remodeled units (I should know, the damn construction noises in the building drove me nuts), friendly apartment manager who lives in the building.

There's a 1 bedroom available for $1350/mo, water + garbage included (utilities extra -- think I pay about $60/mo before counting satellite but after counting internet). A bit pricey, but the convenience is awesome.

$1175 for a studio? I live in a studio paying $650 a month. Northside berkeley, great neighborhood next to gourmet ghetto. Only downer is the walk (about 20 min to Campbell hall)...but a nice walk.

the condo i am looking at is two blocks from campus.

Well, that's good if it's a close, nice, and you can afford it!

Smallz, do you have a bike?

No, I just walk. A bike would certainly be nice coming back home, but it's basically all uphill going to campus.

: ) i think a great place to live on the north side is on euclid (just out of the north gate)

yea Euclid, I like that street. I ought get back to looking for a studio in that area. Maybe I can get out of Foothill for spring
