Was told today by a GC from a top-rated selective enrollment Midwestern HS (someone who I trust completely) that when she asked her Northwestern contact why the GC's school's admit rate had dropped this year by almost half, she was told that 44% of applicants had an ACT of 32 or above.

According to Wikipedia (based on 5-year-old data), that means that 44% of Northwestern's applicants were in the 99th percentile of ACT test takers.

The reason, according to this GC? The huge increase in applications caused by the common app.
