ACCEPTED… and likely can’t afford to attend :(. Isn’t COA $60,000?

UNC Chapel Hill it is.

At least it was a great self-esteem boost after getting rejected from a slew of top colleges I applied for financial aid at.

Muythaiguy:

When did you find out and how? Did you already get your financial aid package? COA is 65k. Did the package come with your acceptance?

Also stats?

They notified me by email. My acceptance package is coming in the mail.

Yeah, I won’t be attending unless I win the lottery or something. I did not apply for financial aid. It’s a nice self esteem boost, though.

what time did you get the email and stats?

4:00PM today

Rejected via email. Worst day of my life.

Blueish sorry to hear that, what time did you receive the email?

10am EST on May 22nd. There wasn’t a link to the decision. The result was just there when I clicked the email. Good luck to rest of you who haven’t heard yet.

ugh, i want my rejection already so i can move on with my life.

also blueeish, did you turn in your final second semester grades?

Same question here. Did you send your final grades of second semester muaythaiguy18?

I did not. It was not required. I sent in my midterm report with a 3.9 gpa on it, though.

@Toofast Yes I sent in the 2nd semester final grade, and I confirmed the school received it by calling. 1st sem: 3.82 / 2nd sem: 3.88.

NU was my dream school since I don’t remember. It’s really heartbreaking that I was rejected. I honestly don’t know what to do now, because I feel like I will be rejected from the two schools I haven’t got the decision yet. Good luck to all of you.

Hey guys, next year I’ll be attending Temple University’s business school, but I would greatly be interested in transferring to Northwestern after freshman year. Do you guys have any idea as to what GPA I should be aiming for?

My hs stats were kinda underwhelming (3.7 GPA, 1780 SATs), but I’m planning to retake the SATs (hopefully getting 200 points higher), and work extremely hard next year.

Would a 3.8 be enough to give me a shot at a transfer admittance to Weinberg? If I got into NU I’d major in economics because there is no undergrad business school.

Hi CR7, if you look at the poster above you, he was rejected with a 3.85 GPA. Since your high school record wasn’t stellar, I would say that you should be looking at at least a 3.9 and ideally a 4.0 GPA.

You’ll discover next year that it’s not very easy to just “work hard and get a 4.0 GPA” when you don’t like your current university.

@CR7RVP, I don’t want to say don’t worry about GPA too much but to be honest, GPA isn’t the most important thing. People can get rejected with near 4.0 and then other people can get in with 3.5s, etc. Obviously, do well your freshman year but worry more about WHY you want to transfer and really build an intriguing profile about why you need to transfer out of your original school and why NU is a good fit. Nailing the essay is more important, in my honest opinion…give them a great reason and GPA sort of comes second

I agree with allen513. Don’t freak out if you end up with a 3.7 or even a 3.6. Also, give your school a fair shot. In order to transfer to a school like NU you have to show involvement and leadership at the school you’re currently attending. This is difficult if you are bent on disliking every aspect of that school.

The posters above me gave a good answer. I just said to aim for a high GPA to compensate for your high school record. The problem is that your high school record will more important than one semester of college classes.

I would recommend that you transfer in your junior year.

I received my acceptance email at ~2:30 Eastern time today.
Some stats:
2390 SAT
4.3/4.5 GPA (A+ = 4.5, A = 4.0, B+ = 3.5…)
~90 average in HS
Lots of sports in high school
Great prof recs
No hooks
I THOUGHT my essays were good
Was in my second year at a Canadian university when I applied

Rejected: Columbia, NYU, Stanford, Harvard, MIT, UPenn, (ouch)
Waitlisted: Dartmouth (still waiting)
Thank god I got into one school.

Not sure if I will enroll as I did not apply for financial aid and I definitely need it. Also, not sure how many opportunities there are at Northwestern for Investment banking…

@Ibanker Hopeful: I was thinking about applying to a lot of schools that rejected you but I’m glad I didn’t. lol Congrats though
