That is odd. My son didn’t send his in until the day before the deadline and was granted one. We don’t live far from Evanston either. Maybe you live close enough they figure you know so much about NU you wouldn’t have any questions? But still kind of strange. I don’t get the whole process really. My son has a friend who is a legacy at a school and didn’t get an interview, meanwhile a bunch of others from our school did.

Hey, you guys don’t really need to worry about the interviews. My interviewer told me that it’s absolutely optional and the AOs will not hold it against you if you do not interview!
I got the form sometime in late December and they got back to me on 29th December. I had my interview scheduled for 17th January and it went pretty well!

That’s interesting considering I’m a double legacy at NU and didn’t get an interview. It’s reassuring knowing that I’m not the only one though. Thanks!
I wish I could have been born with “NU” birth mark on my forehead.

I’ll take that as a compliment. But yes there’s like four alumni in my family so it’s fun being the last grandchild with pressure to continue the legacy

My D applied 12/29, and got an email in early Jan saying she could request an interview by responding by Jan. 9. She did it and waited. She received an email last week, was told there is no alumni available for our area. So no interview.
I got my interview in Jan from a local alumni. He didn’t use Zoom, just called me and asked some basic questions.
Both my GPA and ACT are below Northwestern’s average. But I have some unique experience related to my desired major. Not sure if it will help. Also my brother attended Northwestern too.

Does anyone know how much apps are up this year at Northwestern ?
I think I read somewhere it was like a 20-30% increase but don’t know actual figures.

I suppose you can ask but they send them out to people in areas that have active alumni interviewers.

There was an email sent right after apps were due in January with a date for signing up of January 9. I would check your email to see if you missed it but if it went to your spam it’s probably been deleted by now. In any case you should make sure to check spam regularly as we have found many college emails in spam.

I am not sure if it’s too late or not to request an interview. According to the common data set, interviews aren’t much of a factor in the NU decision process anyway. Anecdotal evidence says the same, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
