wow you have some great stats! especially all the stuff with the music. that’s really impressive. you should definitely continue with the viola in college.
i think the one main thing holding you back is your GPA, but your test scores are really good and you have legit reasons for having a lower gpa.
i still think you have a great chance of getting in. especially if you can get your gpa up 1st semester senior year!
btw, what’s your class rank? you should try to get that up too

It seems that every chance thread I read has “published a children’s book” as an achievement lol. How many teen-published children’s books are there out there?

You have some excellent activities though, and it’s obvious you’re very involved in teh school community. Like PINK, I think you need to improve your GPA, and especially if you’re Chinese, take another subject test (b/c honestly an 800 on Chinese is not very impressive for a Chinese person)

GPA is meaningless without class rank. Helps if you’re in the top 10%.

Your stats are good, i’m sure you know this, you have a good chance at many of the top colleges - pick the ones you like and make sure to create meaningful applications.

I noticed that every time you got a “C”, you put down a family issue in parentheses (grandma died, mom contracted cancer).

Why do you need to explain yourself? It’s not necessary. Do your family issues account for your imperfect SAT score as well? You’re a busy kid doing busy things. If I were you, I would let my resume speak for itself and not try to find the best possible “excuse” for every misstep or falter.

With that said, you have a great shot at Northwestern. With that GPA it’s doubtful you’re ranked very highly, but you’ll still probably hit top 10%, which is the magic #. You have a few great hooks so try to translate those activities to words. Good luck.

Yeah, no offense but a lot of teens lose grandparents early in life so i dont know how much that explanation will help
