Im in at Medill (the Journalism school)... from what I hear from my brother and his friends (who are all current students at NU).. its really easy to transfer from Medill into Weinberg(CAS) because Medill is more selective, so if you have the goods to make it there, then they'll know you can do well in the CAS. Getting into engineering or music is something else I imagine, but once again, transferring from them to the CAS is easy. BTW, my brother has many friends who transferred out of the J-school because they didn't like journalism after all, but very rarely does anyone transfer into it. Its especially hard at NU because the courses follow a 4 year sequence, with a one semester requiredinternship

I'm from a suburb of Cleveland, OH. I don't know where NU is on my list of schools as I've only gotten into Case and NU; I still have to wait on Duke, Penn, Chicago and Harvard, though NU is higher than Case simply because it's in a different city; I wouldn't have to stay so close to home. I was accepted into WCAS...hopefully to double major ISP/Chemistry, but if I didn't get into ISP, I wanted to go Physics/Chemistry (I am such the Chem nerd).

yay! Congrats. The City, another Medill acceptee.. i haven't seen many medill people post.. I got into medill too ED. Are you planning on attending northwestern?

lithiumbromide,

FYI, NU's chem engineering was ranked the 13th in 2004...up from the 18th like 4 years ago. I got this piece of info from the latest newsletter for cheme alums--a section of it talked about some of the improvements the dept had made. Unfortunately, I threw it away.

bennator, what suburb are you from? I'm down in Wooster.

Hey there! I am an intl from Bulgaria. My FedEx arrived today and there's a good chance that I'll meet you in September.
I am going to major in Computer Science. Anyone else planning the same?

80% sure i'll be attending depending on money really, planning on double majoring African Studies/East Asian Studies

hey! i am still waiting on a few other schools but am really excited about my acceptance to weinberg. i'm worried that northwestern is too much of a party school. is the only social activity at northwestern due to frats and sororities? anyone have any insight on that? it would sure help me make a decision. from what i can tell, a lot goes on there and the campus is really active. the people who i met when i visited seemed really awesome. any advice?

I still haven't decided where I want to go, since decisions are still trickling in. I've never really been able to identify a clear first choice; I like all the schools I applied to. But anyway, I'm a Canadian student from Toronto (as it says at left), and now that my package has arrived in the mail and I've seen that they actually did give me fin aid, I can say that there's a possibility that I might go here. I got into Weinberg and I hope to major in Classics.

i can't deciiideee
i really really really really like NU, but if i'm gonna be more goal-oriented and want to be closer to home, NYU Stern is probably the way to go. bah. i want to buy northwestern gear like now! X)

m3ssi, you're from Rowland Heights? Lol, I live realllly close to you!! Walnutter here. ;)

caths2005, I've heard different opinions on the social activity at NU, some people have said it's pretty pathetic, others don't like it for one reason or the other. I'm not sure how it is myself, and I have yet to visit northwestern.

Are any of you going to Preview 2005?

i think i'm going to preview NU. 25/26th probably

Caths, from what I've heard, Northwestern is definitely not a "party school." :)

there's like a north/south side of NU or some partition like that
generally frats and parties are on the "north" side and the ppl who study a lot and aren't going out too much on the other side.
so you could just.. venture to diff sides of campus i guess

m3ssi: Im about 50% undecided on going to Medill, I still have 4 more schools to hear from. I should be more certain eitehr way when I get the mail in a couple hours (im on the west coast). still waiting to hear from chicago, oberlin, reed, amherst

and no, NU doesnt have a rep as a party school. It just doesnt have a rep of a dead school like chicago. Studetns there have a good time, but are still some of the brightest, most intellectual students in teh country.

I bring greetings from my habitat on the MIT board....

Congratulations, NU Class of 09!! ;)

To UC_benz: Rocky River...

After seeing my Financial Aid....I don't know if I'll be joing you at NU...but if I get into ISP, I think I can convince my parents to let me go there anyways.

icymoon.. cool haha. walnut... do you go to walnut high? if so jealous of your yearbook by the way.. as always. Rowland yearbook funds.. not that great. I'm not going to preview NU.. doesnt matter since i got in ED, and short on money to travel.

ne1 know if the "<insert college="" title=""> off the hook" books are any good?</insert>

u can get them for like every college
also, if u go to the website you can click on the arrows & preview some of the pages

i mean, they cover everything, but you gotta wonder exactly who they sampled

m3ssi, yeah I go there. Lol, I'm glad to know you like our yearbook.
