Northwestern Class of 2022 ED Discussion Thread

i wonder why the daily northwestern hasn’t announced the number of ED applicants yet, they’ve done it on the 15th the past few years

@giganticrobot yes great idea! i was wondering how we should exchange usernames

I took the October ACT, and the representative who visited my school said that if your October scores are received after they have made a decision, then they will evaluate whether the October scores have any effect on your profile. So, I think the October scores can be used unless they receive them after posting your admissions decision in December.

@giganticrobot I think that’s a great idea! And I thought snapchat would be a good platform.

Hey, I also took the October ACT, and I feel like a change in test score isn’t going to do much if they’ve already reviewed an application :frowning:

anyone know if we’re supposed to send our 1st quarter grades to northwestern

I sent my first quarter grades, but I do not think it is a requirement. I am not sure though

I think it depends on your high school. My HS sent first quarter grades, but it’s not a requirement.

What do you guys think is the lowest SAT/ACT score NU would accept/has accepted?

Where did they release the number of ED applicants initially last year? I’d love to be able to keep my eye out for when they finally do…

@swimninja on November 15th

Does anyone know the NUmber of early decision applicants this year?

oh wait @swimninja i just reread what you said and I answered the wrong question, it was released by the Daily Northwestern

Can you link the article? @jayinspace I couldn’t find it

I found it @senioritisls https://dailynorthwestern.com/2016/11/15/campus/early-decision-applications-increase-by-more-than-20-percent-this-year/

Still waiting on the new one though. That was last years

Oh thanks! It seems like it’s just getting more competitive each year

so acceptance rate was around 26%-27% last year. Hopefully it will be a little higher this year… fingers crossed!

Anyone know how hard it is to get out of the ED contract if financial aid isn’t enough? Or would it be better to switch to Regular Decision? Having some doubts about whether Northwestern is worth the debt…

@ajs226 it’s really not hard. I found this on a different thread

“If your child IS admitted to the ED college but the aid award is insufficient by whatever standard YOU choose to apply, then –as noted above—the student can decline the offer of admission but it must be done in the timely manner. You can also take a shot at an appeal before saying no. (Expect to provide documentation to validate extenuating circumstances or financial obligations that might not be on the FAFSA or PROFILE.)”
