Do we have a Class of 2023 ED Discussion thread yet?? If so, I can’t find it! Should we discuss that here, or make a new thread?! My daughter sent in her ED app this past weekend after a very tough decision between two schools (Northwestern vs. an Ivy). Now the waiting begins!
@KCHWriter @skieurope Is this the ED thread or RD thread? Can it be pinned?
my fellow ED applicants where you at?
me!!! I’m freaking out lol. does anyone know if they send out packages in the mail or if your decision is just on your online portal? what’s your intended major?
@eyun2019 your decision is on the online portal.
Also I hope the amount of people commenting is the amount of people who actually applied ED.
Also I applied for Chemical Engineering.
I applied for McCormick. Electric Engineering
Gosh I am so nervous!!! I just finished my alumni interview today and it went pretty well (I think).
@“tiger!=vegetarian” how are you’re stats
Your* .-.
@Muqsith
1520 SAT. 800 Math & 720 Reading.
800 on SAT math II
740 on SAT physics
Unweighted GPA 96 (out of 100) (we don’t have rankings but I am top 10% for sure)
9 APs (I am now taking 3 and I already took 6), all are 4s and 5s.
those I already took: AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC, AP Physics 1, AP US History, AP US government, AP lang&comp
those that I am taking this year: AP bio, AP stat, and AP English literature (and maybe AP computer science B I am not sure).
Am I missing anything?
what’s yours?
@“tiger!=vegetarian”
31 ACT: 34 Math, 32 Science, 30 English, 28 Reading => I took it again in October so I’m waiting on those scores too.
SAT II: Math 2 → 760
GPA: 95 (out of 100)
I have a very small school with no class rank, and I have 7 APs (I took all the best possible classes my school offers):
I took APUSH and AP Lang/Comp in my Junior year, and this year I am taking AP Calc AB, AP Chemistry, AP Lit, AP Spanish, and AP Euro.
I plan on submitting my first quarter grades, since I believe I did well in all of them.
I believe my Common Application essay is very unique, and my Why Northwestern essay is pretty strong too.
I had a total of four recommenders, including a counselor, and I think they each wrote great essays considering they are great writers who are graduates from Northwestern, Columbia, and Notre Dame.
My extracurriculars are also pretty strong, I have a lot of leadership and involvement in religious studies, and I also have other leadership positions in school clubs (co-captain of Math Team and co-founder of Robotics Team for example).
Northwestern also has a look at demonstrated interest I believe, and I have had a total of 5 interactions (two representative visits to our school, two campus tours, and one seminar).
I also live twenty minutes away from their campus, and one admissions officer during my visit said that she was the one who reviews applications from the Midwest, so I would assume that they split their applications into a few regions. I may be wrong so don’t quote me on it, but do you mind telling me where you’re applying from?
Also, good luck, and I hope that we both get in.
I applied ED for English!!
@Muqsith I live in Virginia so I only visited once. But Northwestern is my absolute favorite and I really really hope that I can get in. Good luck to you too! Can’t wait for mid-December!
@Muqsith I am Chinese (meaning that I was born and raised in China for 14 years), but I go to high school in Virginia. I think Northwestern do split their applicants into different regions, but I really don’t know if that includes international students living in the regions.
anyone else a prospective performance studies major??
My daughter applied to Weinberg, plans to study physics/astronomy. Their website says “mid December” for ED notification, and I’ve seen Dec. 15th in the past. So…do we think Friday Dec. 14th this year?!
Hey did they already contact you for an alumni interview? Did you apply 11-1 or did you submit it earlier?
Sorry double posted
