THOSE WHO GOT WAITLISTED, HANG IN THERE, AND HOPE FOR THE BEST (also update them with the latest good things you’re doing, cuz that always helps to nudge them)
THOSE WHO DIDNT GET IN, REJECTION DOESNT DEFINE YOUR OTHER RESULTS. IF YOU TRUST YOURSELF, YOU WILL MOST PROBABLY GET IN WHERE YOU WANT TO GO.
Hope this helps anyone who’s happy, sad, indifferent or any other crazy emotion; or any mixture of emotions.
Educate yourself at https://admissions.northwestern.edu/documents/northwestern-class-of-2022-facts-and-figures.pdf (it is last year and this year is in line with last year profile based on published information), pay attention to Pell Grant recipients %, that is significant for a private institute and those students most likely received full ride. Another significant number is total need based financial aid, 190M, I let you calculate, how many students it may translate into it.
Tbh sat and act scores really aren’t good indicators of anything except bubbling in a sheet and the ability to do 8th/9thgrade math. There’s a reason these scores are becoming less important.
My D19 got accepted. 36/3.95&4.67/NMF/Decent ECs & Essays/Asian female with no hooks, but visited twice - once with a faculty. Maybe, that helped. It was a good news after being wait-listed from WashU and rejected from UChicago.
Factually incorrect as ~40K included ED applicants. @HoldensDad
NU is relatively generous with ED applications, hence higher ED acceptance rate, historically about 50% of class (~1000) comes through ED.
As per last year article https://dailynorthwestern.com/2018/03/24/campus/northwestern-acceptance-rate-falls-to-8-4-percent/
RD Acceptance rate was 6.4%
ED Acceptance rate was ~26.5%
Overall Acceptance rate 8.4%.
Considering this year applications pool is merely 100 more than last year, it won’t be a surprise if this year acceptance rates are almost identical as above.
