<p>Hey guys, I have a few questions:</p>

<p>-For the research abstract, should I upload the abstract alone, or should I include some additional info w/ it? (i.e. when and where research was done, awards received for it, etc.)</p>

<p>-For the prompt:

Does Northwestern expect me to be very familiar with the school I'm applying to?</what></p>

<p>For the supplement prompt - they do. When it asks what specific school, they'd like to know why and familiarity definately helps in that aspect.</p>

<p>My response was around 750 words/ about two typed pages. I think I've heard anything past two pages is viewed as excessive? But I could be wrong, so I would email the admissions office, they love questions/student contact.</p>

<p>I don't think so. I know several people who did 700 words + for their supplement.</p>

<p>they didn't specify on the app with any numbers, so essays will probably range anywhere from 250 - 800 words, depending on the detail</p>

<p>i imagine it won't matter how long it is as long as you tell them why you want to attend northwestern</p>

<p>I explained what i liked about northwestern (for me, i could imagine myself in many of their nationally renowned programs), and then i described what specifically I want to do (HPME --> med school) and why I liked it at Northwestern.</p>

<p>Alright, thats a little comforting. :) Apparently mine flows well, so hopefully they won't notice the word count!</p>

<p>I took the conventional route and explained what I liked about NU, my overnight experience and what I felt NU would benefit from having me attend. I also touched on the career I was interested in (banking) and how the environment (Chicago/Evanston) and NU's programs (Econ + Kellogg) were the keys to helping me get there.</p>

<p>I haven't visited Northwestern, so my essay sounds really bland right now. I just listed three big points of why Northwestern is a good school</p>

<p>Hmm, mine was bout 620 words. My essay was pretty much just talking about why I started to like engineering/ robotics. The progression and development of that passion, and then how Northwestern's specific programs can help me to continue my passion and interests. </p>

<p>Dante - I didn't necessarily need to visit the school to write that, all you need to do is find out about what excites you about the school. Write about that and you'll be golden. (Of course I don't know if I have gotten in or not, so take my advice with a grain of salt)</p>

<p>Yeah, I don't exactly know how to approach the research summary essay.
Should I go into crazy details or just explain the gist of it?</p>

<p>I just put my abstract in from my most recent research project at the facility where I intern. That way I include background, objective, methods, results and conclusion. (It is about 300 words.)</p>

<p>err, JP821, if I understand you correctly, you are saying that the research is on the university....that's not so. the research is any type of research outside of school; that is, research you conducted that was not related to your high school (e.g. summer research program at a university).</p>
