Northwestern Decisions...?

Does anyone know when Northwestern posts their decisions for winter quarter? They said it is rolling admission after Nov 1st. But I sent in my application in Sept, so I should have found out by now...

D applied last year for winter admission. I think it was mid November that she found out, I know for sure it was before Thanksgiving. She also applied in September. Decision came via FedEx. Hope this helps.

I'm tempted to think that decisions will be released online. I'll call the Office to confirm. Was there a system in place last year where your daughter could check her application status (materials received, etc.) online?

Also, does anybody know how many apply for winter on any given year and how many are admitted?

Is NU need-blind for transfer admissions given the limited amount of NU grants available?

sanjenferrer,
Yes, there was a system in place to check on the materials received. It was quite a surprise to receive the decision via FedEx, and I don't really remember if they ever updated the application status online for her. She did get pretty good financial aid from NU. But the transfer of courses from her previous college was not too great (semester to quarter) so she transferred to another college, not NU.

So I guess I'm not the only one spazzing out about admission for winter quarter?
Out of curiosity, where are you guys coming from?
Does anyone know what the kinds of statistics are for winter admission?
Thanks! Best of luck to everyone!

I go to NYU right now.. if I transfer, I'm also nervous about the credits transfering.. because it would be from semester to quarter... yikes! where are the rest of you from?

I'm actually at U of Rochester....I'm hoping I have ok chances since it's a similar school to Northwestern, but I'm just so unsure since it's mid year and I'm an engineering kid. But I made the effort to visit (considering I live in NY) and talked to one of the Deans of Engineering.
I'm just completely freaking out since I'm betting this week will be the decision week. Eeeeep.

omg, this week??? why do you think so? Does this apply for all applicants or only those who applied reaaally early (since NU has rolling admissions)?

Well, I guess you're making your prediction based on what collma said... makes sense. I just hope the same also applies for those who applied right by the deadline.

Hey everybody-
I just went and looked up by daughters acceptance letter from NU from last year to make sure I was correct when I said "mid November". The letter was dated Nov 14th, and sent overnight FED EX, so she would have received it on the 15th.

How kind of Northwestern to send out decisions before Thanksgiving! Nov. 15 must be an internal deadline of some sort (they overnighted? wow)... I suppose it'd be best for them to get transfer decisions out of the way so they could devote all of their time to freshman applications.
Thanks for checking, collma! We really appreciate it.

Maybe they mail the decision early for applicants who applied early. The Common Data Set for 2006-2007 says the notification date is Dec. 1st.

2006-07 Transfer admission, Common Data Set - Northwestern University

I think that is why we were so surprised that she received it when she did....not expected until December. I really don't remember when she exactly submitted the app, but I am sure it was in September, and I think it was early-mid September. Inside the FED EX envelope was a nice purple folder that said "Welcome" and a nice letter and a few other pages....more came later (a few weeks later) including a window decal and key chain thing, and info about Orientation and her transfer credit breakdown.
Good luck to everyone!

My friend applied last year and heard before Thanksgiving. I've heard this year, less freshman came so it may be easier, good luck.

oh and my friend said they never updated her online application to say she was admitted.

hey, did your friend apply way before the Nov.1st deadline? I'm starting to think there's a general notification date that we don't know about for all applicants regardless of how early they applied, but I just want to make sure.

So wow, there's a strong chance we could actually be hearing from them this week... nerve-wracking!

yes, she turned in before the deadline in early October. I really think we could hear this week which is beyond frightening.

Good luck to all of you guys...I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you!! :)

I am so nervous and distracted. I can't think about anything else!

me too. What school did everyone apply to a NW? I applied to SESP mainly because my mom used to work at that school.
