I’m not entirely sure about my major yet, but it will likely be a social science.

I would like to know my chances for Northwestern, Tulane, Northeastern, Boston University, Brown, and Georgetown.

I really want to apply Early Decision to Northwestern. I heard admission is more likely if I were to apply ED there, and I am pretty sure it’s the school for me. Unfortunately, my financial situation will probably dictate where I am headed, and I don’t think I qualify for enough aid for me to be comfortable. That’s why I am applying to schools like Tulane, BU, and Northeastern, since they offer more merit.

ANYWAY, can y’all chance me for these schools? Especially Northwestern if I were to apply ED vs if I were to apply RD?

Also, does anyone know of any good schools that offer merit for which I would be able to qualify? Doesn’t have to be the one’s I have mentioned.

Thanks a lot!

You have the stats for all of them. Your ECs are good, with a nice mix of athletics and other various worthwhile activities, and you also held leadership positions. For Georgetown, Tulane, Northwestern and Brown you are at varying points of their middle 50% SAT range, so you are a high match to a low reach at those schools, while for Norheastern and BU you are a little bit above the average so you are a match to a low match. As I’m sure you are aware, however, there are few guarantees anymore in this process. You have to show interest and also tailor your application to how the schools see themselves. Put a lot of effort into the essays. I would add, just for safety’s sake, one or two true safeties. Remember, even if you are eminently qualified to study somewhere, that does not mean that the school is a safety. Many schools do not admit people who are not enthused about going, as it brings down morale for everybody else and creates an immediate transfer risk. (Tulane, in particular, zealously guards its sky high “happiest students” and “quality of life” designations.). Please remember this if you get disappointed in December or April. When the schools say that they “cannot possibly admit all the students who are qualified to attend,” yes, they’re trying to ease the sting of rejection, but they are also 100% sincere that you can be very, very qualified and still not get in. Please remember this if you get disappointed in December or April. Best of luck to you!

You are a competitive applicant. Your stats and ECs are great. Your URM hook is good also. Write amazing essays and you could get accepted to any of these schools
