Accepted to Weinberg. Letter dated 6/16, received on 6/19 in NY.

While it is an amazing honor to be accepted to one of my dream schools, I will most likely not be accepting the offer. I’m stuck in a very difficult choice and, weighing the pros and cons, I can’t logically rationalize transferring anymore.

Some stats for future applicants:

Junior Transfer from SUNY Stony Brook. Majoring in Biology & Political Sciences looking to get my M.D./Ph.D
GPA to date: 3.91
SAT: 2080 (1380/1600)
SAT II’s: Poor.
Extracurriculars: Several honor societies, community involvement, campus paper, and about a year of (basic science) Research.
Essays: I actually felt this was my second worst essay (of my transfer ones) , which is amusing because my “better” essays failed to produce the turnarounds I wanted, but NU is actually the best of the bunch. I mainly focused on why I wanted to transfer to NU specifically, my interest in several fields of research related to my own, my interest in noted faculty, the academic philosophy, and some opportunities available.
Recs: Strong, I think. They came from two writing professors that I had built a great rapport with and we shared a great deal of mutual respect.

HS: ~93 GPA, heavy involvement in all sorts of things: music (violin for 10+ years), varsity tennis (3 years), MUN (competitive for 4 years), bunch of honor societies, etc. 14 APs taken during my HS curriculum. Did not apply to NU out of HS.

Trust me when I say it’s extremely difficult to turn down a dream, but it would be myopic to change schools in my present situation.

@dingdingmh - seems to me that the request for your “final college transcript” in the instructions of what you need to do “as soon as possible” is it for your credits.

Yes, my final transcript has been sent to them on May 13. And I just contact Mr.Weimer, as I supposed to within 3 weeks upon my admission. I received an email attched the transfer credits evaluation of mine this morning. They transfer all my courses!! I got 12 credits at northwestern now, number of credits a NU student usually earns for one year’s study. So I am entering as a sophomore.

robin, I think you might contact Richard Weimerrpw@northwestern.edu, the assistant dean of Weinberg College right away!

So I applied on the last day…& have yet to hear any news which is making me a bit apprehensive.

What are the chances?
Rising sophomore from a pretty good public university
GPA to date: 3.78
ACT: 30
Extracurriculars: several activist groups, Model UN, pre-law club
Work: Writer for the University’s student newspaper
Essays&Recs: Relatively decent.

HS: 5.57/5.00 GPA
President of NHS, senior class, Drum major of marching band, AP scholar with distinction

my record is very similar to yours. except I have bit higher college GPA. but the difference is quite small that it’s negligible.
I haven’t heard anything yet either…so…we don’t really know what is going to happen now. what does matter is to which school did you apply?
