Does anyone know what the admission rate for Medill is??

^Not sure but I believe it’s around 30% for all transfers.

ChicagoBears1:

1) I am applying for Fall 2011 Admissions.
2) Do you think I have a pretty good shot for transfer admissions to CAS Econ? It’s my first choice and honestly dream school!
3) Hope you like Cutler… He’s my favorite player in the NFL. Left Denver the year I got there for college.

I’m applying for biomedical engineering at Northwestern.

High school GPA: 3.2ish/4
SAT/ACT: 2280/34
Subject tests: 800MathII 800Chem

I’m a freshman right now, and so far I have a 4.0. But I don’t have any college ECs.

incogneato - I believe you’re a very competitive applicant. Regarding Cutler, I think he has all the talent in the world but I’m skeptical of his decision-making. I’m rather surprised since he went to Vandy. You would think he would be smarter eh?

Gotcha, thanks @chicagobears1!!

@ChicagoBears1:

Yes, Cutler’s decision making abilities are hit or miss. He either looks like a pro bowler or non-league worthy (last year). Regardless, he is still my favorite player! Hoping that if I end up at NW, I can bring my jersey to games!

On a separate note, what is transfer financial aid like? NW states that they are Full need met, so is cost of attendance just COA-EFC= Aid? I’ve heard from some that FA at NW is not full need me? Any comments would be great.

How much value do you guys think an ACT score has on whether or not NU will admit you into the communications program? I had a 3.8 in highschool with NHS, Spanish Honors Society, and editor of our newspaper. At the University of Illinois, I finished a year and a half with a 3.75. I intern at a sports website and I’ve worked for the Big Ten Network. I’m also in the honors program. I’m a HORRIBLE standardized test taker though.

^It’s not weighted as heavily if you’re a rising junior.

Hey Guys I’m also trying to transfer to NU this upcoming fall:

HS:
3.5/4.0
24 ACT
Extras: homecoming/turnabout/prom court, captain of the golf team, student leadership.

College:
Univ of Iowa
3.4/4.0
Extras: All conference golfer, dean’s list, athletic directors honor roll, honors program

I’m also Cuban so hopefully that helps, recently my parents have gotten ill so I have come home and NU is only 30 minutes away from home.

I wish my ACT would have gone a little better but it’s my dream school so I thought I’d give it a shot!

-32 ACT
-3.5 High School GPA
-3.86 College GPA
-5’s on AP English (both years)/Gov’t test
-Stellar LoR (I visit professor regularly at his home)
-Internship @ local magazine, won various poetry contests, edited school magazine, etc. Lots of EC’s focused around English.
-Strong essays

Applying to Weinberg.

“The majority transfer from four-year institutions; about 10% transfer from community colleges. Slightly more than 50% transfer after one year of college, rather than after two years.” - Information from NU’s transfer guide (got it during my campus tour).

Do you guys think they will be taking less transfers this year because they had so many freshmen applicants?

^Possibly. They accept transfers on a space-available basis but it’s worth considering that they only accept a certain amount of freshmen every year.
