I have 3.7 GPA from top 20 national university
4.0 HS GPA from a private high school
good activities including internships during HS but not much during college.
decent essay and recs
Iā€™m trying to transfer as a sophomore.

ooh and I have a question. since my current college runs in a quarter system I donā€™t think I can send my transcripts on time. do you guys think that it will impact the process greatly? does any one of you know someone who got in without sending final transcripts?

good luck! I really hope we all get in!

I hope we all get in too!

decent essays,
hooks: great rec., legacy, left high school after 10th grade

decent ECs and Recsā€¦I guess, from top 20ā€¦97/100 high school gpaā€¦omg, I really get nervousā€¦

HS:
3.7 UW/ 4.1 W
4 year varsity team member in two sports, 3 year team captain in my primary sport, 2 x all state, represented the junior level national team in international competition during HS. Varsity debate, Teen court, Hospital volunteering (ER).
SAT- 1430(CR/M)

University: Tier 1 state school
4.0 with 31 credits taken (including several upper division courses)
6 months researching in a biomedical research lab
Competed on NCAA DI national championship team in my sport (not Football or Basketball, sorry, Iā€™m lame)

Spent a lot of time on the essays (I only applied to NU because itā€™s the only school to which Iā€™d leave if Iā€™m accepted, so I figured, why bother with any others?) and had them proofread several times by a friend who works in a firm that does consulting for top prep students looking to get into HYPSM and the other Ivies/top schools.

Letter of Rec from the head of our Phil. department who taught one of my upper division classes.

may i ask what sport you play mccubs?

so many of you from top 20s and Iā€™m over here at DePaulā€¦sigh. Anyway, Iā€™ll post my updated GPA as soon as I complete this quarter.

I know what you mean ChicagoBears1. hahaha.

Itā€™s okay, ChicagoBears1ā€¦ Iā€™m at Lawrence U. I know how you feel.

chicagobears1 itā€™s okay! weā€™re all in the same pool together!!

Co-sign on what the last 3 people said. I think if you show youā€™ve been successful at whatever school youā€™re at currently, theyā€™ll ignore its ranking to an extent.

ā€¦went to visit Northwestern yesterday, turns out my application may be deferred until winterā€¦apparently they need something from my high school, and my high school may not be able to give it to them until june 9th,

NU said if we can get it to them by mid-june they would still consider me, if not iā€™d have to wait til winter quarterā€¦ i hope they get the forms soon

wish me luck

good luck. ^^
how was visiting campus, btw? It certainly is cold here in chicagoland, though!

iā€™m really anxious about getting my decision. where else did u guys apply to? is northwestern your top choice? has anyone applied for financial aid?

Also applied and got accepted to Vanderbilt. Iā€™m slightly leaning towards NU because of their superior econ program and its reputation in the investment banking industry, however it essentially comes down to the financial aid. If NU doesnā€™t come close to what Vandy gave me, I would have to turn them down.

when are decisions mailed out?

@transfer98765 Thanks! I loved the visit! Iā€™m from the burbs, and went to school in Mass. last year, so Iā€™m pretty used to the cold. I really hope I can call NU home this fall, did anyone else know about the residential colleges vs. regular residence halls? I think theyā€™re pretty cool, each one has a theme (e.g., college of commerce and industry), also their engineering first program is WAY cooler than I had thought, too bad we miss out on some of the courses the first years get to take :/

iā€™m also from/ live in the metro chicago area. yay! there are a lot of us!
hope to meet you guys (in person) one day! :D

< another from Chicagoland

Another Chicagoland inhabitant here.

Iā€™m from LA so I would expect the weather to be miserable.
