Do you need good grades to get accepted for music performance at Northwestern? Also, does anybody know how competitive it is (compared to conservatories, like Oberlin)?

It is competitive. Many who audition/apply at NW are also doing the same for Oberlin.

NU used to show average SAT by schools on its databook. The average SAT for the music school was around 1350 two (or 3?) years ago. At the time, it was about 70 points lower than the University average.
