also, i think the idea of coming up with a bunch of questions together is great. maybe we could all PM each other our email addresses and figure it out?

Question 1: What are the gpa and mcat requirements currently?

I know there is no mcat, but I can’t find anything official regarding the gpa and mcat on the actual website. I just don’t want to blindly commit to this program without any requirements in writing.

i know the gpa requirement is 3.2 and i’m pretty sure you don’t have to take the mcat.

ah you seem like such a fabulous child already! i have no idea how this PM thingy works, but is it wierd to give you my email or something? lol i have no idea if im about to be stalked but i need a description so i can stalk and possibly tackle hug you. sorry. im really wierd but im just excited to meet evrayonne :]

Hey - I made a facebook group for any admitted students to HPME to get to know each other or make decisions, etc, etc…so if youre on fb, its “HPME Prospectives - Class of 2017!! (HS class of 2010)”

last time I checked, the GPA requirement is 3.0 overall and 3.2 in science.

HPMEs are not required to take the MCAT

I got into the program as well and am most likely attending. It seems like an opportunity you just can’t pass up.

Can accepted people please post some stats (ACT/SAT, GPA, ECs, etc)? Thanks!

Does NW treat HPME students same as regular undergrads for financial aid?

after in the HPME program for 4 years, can i apply out and does not lose my seat in the med school?

havardmed…

Check out the Northwestern HPME Prospectives - Class of 2017 Facebook page.

Apas Aggarwal had the same question and apparently contacted Dr. Green for the answer.

thanks, DualDegreeDoc.

Just to clarify: You do not lose your seat at Feinberg if you apply to other medical schools.

Lol, I will bet since the Facebook group is public some of the members are going to get harassed with messages asking for stats.

haha thats actually true,
but i was just curious-do you guys find it annoying when people do that-i know i do it.
i mean the way i look at it is that we were all once in the same situation so theres no harm in sharing/asking

I think some really don’t like it… like the official Brown PLME Facebook pages, it actually said at one point in the description “if you are a high school student asking about ‘stats’, ■■■■” or something. :P

hey you guys,
I’ve skimmed this entire thread including part 1. I really want to get into HPME. I will be a senior this year, and I just wanted to see if any of you could tell me about the program and your experiences. It’s hard to judge from my perspective because I feel like I’ve only encountered the tip of the metaphorical HPME iceberg.

Will the fact that I won’t take AP Chem in high school hurt my chances at all for HPME? Ap Chem is offered but instead i will be taking AP bio (11th) and AP physics (12th). I already took the chemistry subject test after honors chem (got 760) but am simply concerned b/c i won’t be taking AP?

Thanks!!

Rover112, you should be fine without taking AP Chem. As long as admissions sees that you took challenging classes, it will not matter to them that you chose AP Bio over AP Chem.

I am a Junior in high school. My school is a very small school with a very big focus on Liberal Arts. The aim is for wisdom, not for some AP test. The first graduating class was last year. None of them got into very great colleges. My school has a set curriculum and we don’t take Chemistry until Senior Year. Also all my classes say honors in front of them even though they are at the rigor and intensity of AP/IB classes. So I can take AP exams but its not oriented around the AP exams so I might not do that well.
