Northwestern HPME Question!

Hey Guys,
So I was just looking around for the requirements of the Northwestern HPME program and stumbled upon this:

Applicants are required to take the College Entrance Examination Board SAT Reasoning Exam and SAT Subject Exams in Math Level 2 and Chemistry. The American College Test with writing (ACT) may be substituted for the SAT Reasoning Exam. You may obtain information about these tests from your high school guidance office or the Office of Undergraduate Admission at Northwestern University.

Does this mean that if we were to take the ACT and submit our ACT score to Northwestern, they would take it in lieu of our SAT 1 AND SAT 2's or JUST our SAT 1? Because many schools I have heard of take the ACT score and ACT Writing score instead of BOTH the SAT 1 and SAT subject tests - is Northwestern an exception to that?

Thanks,
LaPrincesa

ACT + Writing is used as a substitute for the 3-section SAT I. Subject Tests must be taken even with an ACT.

Northwestern does not mandate subject tests for undergrad admission. Math and Chemistry are specific to HPME.

The SAT Reasoning is the SAT I exam. You still need math and chemistry SAT IIs.
