Northwestern Interview?

Hey guys,

I applied for Northwestern in the regular decision round and was contacted to schedule an interview, which I did. The weird thing is that I wasn’t given a specific interviewer, just the address of a building to meet at. This is pretty different from the other schools I have applied to, where an interviewer personally contacts me to schedule a time.

Because of this, I was wondering if the interview process at Northwestern is different than other schools. Is it a group interview? Am I still being interviewed by Northwestern alums? Can anyone give me some info on what to expect?

You should contact the person that scheduled the interview and ask them for more detailed information.

However, I would not worry about it - interviews are considered, but are not an important part of the NU admissions decision. For details, please look at page 7 of the Common Data Set: http://enrollment.northwestern.edu/pdf/common-data/2014-15.pdf

FYI - I am a parent of 2 NU alums, one admitted ED and one RD - and neither interviewed.

My D. had her Northwestern interview today in L.A. and was very pleased. She was told where to meet her interviewer (interviewers were held at a private school) but that was about it. She felt like she had a good, easy-going discussion, and it was 1:1. Hope that helps.

Does every student who is being considered for admission get asked to interview? Or is it just some?

Yeah I was invited to apply for an interview three times, but each time it went to my spam box. I just now saw the third invite which was from three days ago. Hopefully they still have some STL interview spots open.

Hello, I am new to College Confidential. I am also registered for an interview, and I was just curious about what kind of questions are asked. What are some of the harder questions asked? Also, what are you doing to prepare for your interview – is there anything you would recommend? Thanks in advance!
