I have an interview coming up soon, and I was wondering if anyone has had experience with one and what it is like. I’ve been trying to find info on them everywhere but can’t seem to find anything. Thank you!
I just typed this in response to another thread, but make sure you go in with questions of your own. My D20’s interview experience was very positive - but I think it’s all going to be relative to the particular interviewer. My D was prepared to answer the “why NU” question very specifically and had prepared questions to ask of her interviewer (things that can’t be answered by a glance at the website, like “tell me some things you loved about Northwestern”.)
I recently had mine about a week ago. It went really well, and my advice to you is show your love for Northwestern. My interviewer told me that the main purpose of the interview is to see how much you really want to go to Northwestern. They definitely want to learn more about everything that isn’t on your Common App too. Good luck!
Northwestern told my son, “We have reached capacity for interviews in your area” so no interview. New Jersey is tough. Lots of smart, well-qualified applicants.
this was me TOO! I was so disappointed because its my top school and I wanted to show them that :((
Hope this helps. Our son applied ed and wasn’t able to get an interview either because availability was limited. He was accepted. I’m not sure but I think interviews are drawn blind not based on strength of application. Not getting an interview should not hurt anyone adversely.
