I applied today because I got an e-mail that told me I should. I'm a female interested in studying Astronomy/Physics & Astronomy. Should I assume Northwestern is truly interested in me as a student or is this just an e-mail they send to most intended science majors? Also, if it isn't a mass e-mail and they really want me to apply, should I be expecting an acceptance letter next month?? XD

My son got one too because he put down he was interested in a major in math/science. He actually applied to the school of music and wanted to double major. So, it sounds like this email went to applicants who put down they were planning on majoring in the sciences.

^ Same here as well. Its a mass email.

Hey does anyone know what the word limits are supposed to be for the ISP app? Especially the “interest in science and maths” and “why ISP” questions.

My S got the email. It looked massed produced. However, he is interested and had already applied to ISP (email and his app crossed in the mail.) He also had contacted them earlier in December regarding a question he had regarding qualifying tests to apply for ISP, as you know there are several. Early in the college selection game, S expressed an interest in interdisciplinary science so his application to this program was natural, especially since he’s heavily math/science oriented but, during his undergrad, had no interest on attending one of the more traditional tech schools like MIT, Cal Tech, Harvey Mudd, etc. He was interested in attending a school where the interests of the student body were more broad. (He was rejected SCEA Stanford.)
