northwestern love.

hey! i just joined CC but i've been reading the columbia board all year, first deferred ED then finally rejected...

after preview NU, i can't imagine going anywhere else--Northwestern is AMAZING.

anyway, a lot of people at preview NU talked about how there's no NU-pride among the students...what is this?!!
as someone who only applied to northwestern on a last minute whim and was too ivy-obsessed, i have no regrets in choosing northwestern. the campus is beautiful, academics are strong, the people (i met) were extremely talented and bright, chicago is right there, you can eat whatever you want in evanston, and come on...we've got a beach/lake on campus! :) not to mention the chicago skyline...<3

there are so many wonderful schools, and it's so great to find the one that feels like your own personal perfect fit.

so who loves northwestern? :) i do. i hope all of you going there do too...and i can't wait to meet you in the fall.

so this seems a little silly to you? so what, it does to me too...but i just know that i'll be somewhere where i'll be happy for the next four years...and after high school, who can complain about that?

northwestern love forever.

Yeah! Oh I am SUPER excited as well! I am glad to see some more enthusiasm for NU, because I feel the same way. Arrgh, I cannot wait until next year!

I agree. Just because it wasn't your first choice when you applied doesn't mean you don't love it later. Most people I know liked NU and were proud of being there. Most schools are "second choice" to HYPS anyway. This whole talk had been exaggerated. Not many schools can steal people from HYPMS without using money (merit-based schlorship) while NU is able to steal some of them with its great programs in HPME, ISP, journalism and theater..etc.

and music too! northwestern was one of about 7 schools represented at the kennedy center for a session of the conservatory project....among the likes of juilliard, curtis, indiana, etc...and NEC wasn't there.

musicarts---i feel exactly the way you do...Preview NU sealed the dealfor me!!! there's just so much... tALENT! and pride dude even though we're not the best, it doesn't mean that NU fans don't have chants of their own ;] do you have a facebook? if so i want to be your friend! Lol =]

I LOVE NU TOO. I just hope to god that there was a lot of truth in advertising at preview NU... because thats what really blew me away. I was leaning towards U. of Chicago... but like jenny says, theres just soooo much Talent at NU. It seems like everybody is wicked smart, but also extremeley talented or interesting in some other way. I dont know any other school that has that.

jenny--what do you mean? of course NU is the best!! :)

yes, i just got a facebook...but there's nothing on mine and i don't know how to do anything on it yet...lol i don't know how you'd add me...my name is ronnie wu if that helps? (i'm a girl...sometimes the name can be deceiving...)

oh and we can so make up our own NU cheers--here's one:

We're scholars and athletes, musicians and more--
We've got spirit and intellect at our core.
Not Ivy-league? so you might say-
We'll rival Harvard and Yale any given day.
Our ivy-covered buildings house only the best-
We're the new ivy--of the Midwest.
But enough of this ivy talk--let's show 'em how its done.
Studying at the lake, guarding the rock just for fun.
From California to New York, we sure represent,
We're the best of the best that anywhere could've sent.
From the fighting methodists to the wildcats-We're Purple and White
Here at Northwestern, we do it right!

eh...so it's a little long for a cheer...but what can ya do? :)

omg I love this thread! :D

and the cheer is great, btw!

yeah nu pride!

northwestern love <3

cool cheer musicarts4!! haha... oh yea.. we can match ivy league anyday... =D .. now how come admin hasnt given us a northwestern 2009 board..

m3ssi--my cousins live in rowland heights (when they're not at school) do you know ann and michael hsiao?

oh and happy early birthday! (i saw your profile :) 18!!!)

m3ssi, I've also been wondering why we don't have a 2009 board.. half of the other CC Top Universities have them.

icymoon: "m3ssi, I've also been wondering why we don't have a 2009 board.. half of the other CC Top Universities have them."

They decided to give the upper half 2009 boards based on posts. If you notice Duke with ~7200 posts and everyone else above that have their own board. Michigan with ~6000 and everyone with fewer posts (including NU) doesn't have one. I think it's silly.

poo to them... hehe (for not giving us a 2009 board)... musicarts thanks for the birthday greeting. :) makes u the first person to wish me happy birthday. :p and no.. i dont know your cousins.. i pretty much only know people from school, i know a warren hsiao though.. dont know if ters any relation in that. but wow. didn't think that someone from NY would have heard of rowland heights. heck, many ppl from So. Cal doesnt know were rowalnd heights is unless tey're from walnut (or some other suburb) like icymoon.

music - nice cheer lol! i'll find you via facebook =]

check out the "yayy NU 2009!" thread for some more northwestern love. ;)

love for NU :P

musicarts, hi! for the record, i've been doing the exact same thing. deferred early for columbia, then rejected! and i'm from new york too.

haha maybe we are the same person?

and you're going to northwestern too?? :)

yep, i am! and i'm really excited about it!
