I am new to college confidential so I will start with an apology for possibly posting this in the wrong place.
So, I am applying to Northwestern Medill School of Journalism RD this December. I have loved writing from a very young age, and would consider writing to be my main talent and passion.
I have a un-weighted cumulative GPA of 3.96. I am a IB Diploma candidate, and am taking a full IB course load with three HLs (required for the diploma), which is the hardest course load offered at my school.
I have been a editor, layout manager, and staff writer for my school's literary magazine since my first year of high school. I have been editor-in-chief for the past three years.
I also have a creative writing artist's diploma which I have been pursuing since my Freshman year and take creative writing electives each year as well as Honors English classes for Freshman and Sophomore year.
I am a paid reporter/journalist for my town's local newspaper and write articles weekly. This is my first year that I have worked for this newspaper.
I have also had my writing published in several anthologies.
The downside is that I have a 1750 SAT score and a 24 ACT score. I will be re-taking both tests for the last time in December with hopes of scoring higher.
I am a dedicated student and am extremely passionate about all forms of writing. I plan to become a journalist. Please comment opinions on how I can improve my chances of admission. Thank you so much!
