Not my experience when visiting. There is Evanston itself with dozens of restaurants, bookstores, etc. It takes exactly 26 minutes to get into downtown Chicago on the Express Metra, which you board just 3 blocks from the NU campus. 35 minutes if you get the Local Metra.</p>
