Northwestern=more straightforward admissions?

Just found this thread. I will show to S who was just admitted RD last week and is planning a Wildcat Days visit in early April. NW was one of his top 3 choices and he is very excited. All we are waiting for is the FA package so we can see if we can make it work for him

Mildcat and other posters, all of your info about the Evanston area is really helpful and I am sure that S will find it beneficial. Thank you for taking the time to post.

We look forward to our return visit as an admitted student.

When I saw your original post, I just knew that you had to be drinking the purple cool-aid. For example, look at the link from PV High; a 4.0/2290 = WL. Ditto a 3.97/2270. At least NW did accept the 4.0/2400, and 4.0/2310!

NO highly selective college is “straightforward”; they can’t be. :)

From my impression, there was more of a clear pattern for that particular high school where people below a certain threshold were rejected and people above it accepted or waitlisted. From looking at the results thread this year, however, this is not evident. I believe recs and essays are now more important than ever. Standard praises and generically good essays just will not cut it anymore.
