I am deciding between Georgetown's MSB for finance or Northwestern for economics and journalism. I really want smaller class sizes and personal contact with my professers. I've already visited Georgetown and I LOVED DC, however im not too sure about the religious classes and the preppy student population. But Northwestern I also love chicago a lot and i loved northwestern when i visited.
Who is better in terms of career prospects and MBA placement?
PLease help!

There is no better place to go for journalism than NU. And isn't NU's economics program top-rate as well?

From what I've been told, the religious part of Georgetown is in name only in that it's a Jesuit school. It's not part of the experience unless you want it to be so don't let that be a deciding factor.

I agree with what Taryn said though about NU and journalism.

Both are top tier schools though so you can't go wrong either way.

Good luck.

Well it depends on what exactly you want to do? It sounded like you were interested in Econ/Business and if that's the case, the two schools are probably about equal and you should use other non-academic factors to make your choice. But you mentioned journalism, so I'm not sure if that's something you're looking at too. If so, NU's journalism school is top-notch.

Another thing, like wintersilk said, the Jesuit thing is not a big deal at Georgetown unless you want it to be. And Georgetown isn't nearly as preppy as its reputation seems to be.

NU's econ program is #9 in teh country. The journalism program is the best. Bar none. The Teaching Media program gives you a quarter-long internship with a tv/radio/newspaper/magazine somewhere in the US, which is a great opportunity for all students.
To address teh "Jesuit" factor, 51% of G'town students went to a private school. 27% of NU's did. No knock on going to a private school, but there is a distinctly catholic prep school environment at G'town which simply doesn't exist at NU. Northwestern is simply a group of very gifted students that, by and large, are very grounded.

^^^where do you find NU econ ranking? i cant seem to find it. is that a graduate ranking or an actual undergrad ranking?

It's actually #8, according to US News graduate ranking. There's no undergrad ranking.
