Northwestern or NYU stern ed

Hi i am considering applying to northwestern or nyu stern ed and i would like to know what stats i should have and if it is a wise decision. I have a 3.6 gpa from a school in ny, sats of 2000 (1350)...(going to retake) and sat math 2c of 730 i am going to take another test. I was wondering if i have a good shot at either.

Stern >>>>>> Northwestern.

Do you have time to take another subject test before the ED deadline to stern?

At any rate, with those stats, you could get into either of them ED, although nothing is garuanteed. For Northwestern, you'd need a slightly higher SAT score, but I don't know if that would necessarily hurt you. You should ultimately apply to whichever one you like more.

Stern >>>>>> Northwestern.

I DO NOT THINK SO

i highly doubt anyone would think that

everyone in stern says Stern

Northwestern >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NYU

Northwestern = Stern

im confused...right now im not sure if i want to do med or business. im thinkin of double majoring and those two schools seem to be my top choices. Stern is better for business and im leaning towards business but the trimester system of northwestern would be beneficial to me if i double major...that was why i needed to know if i could get into both schools ed but right now im split between the 2 schools.

Northwestern is just as good as Stern for business and much better for med than NYU. Go with Northwestern ED

I agree with NU.

wow man, seriously, double majoring in business and med... i wanted to do that until i realized... man i'll never get out of school.

northwestern is an awesome school. however, stern has one advantage that very few schools offer. it's prime location in the middle of wall street makes it a very desirable school for prospective business majors.

so basically, unless if you know that you are absolutely passionate in pursuing both interests, you should reconsider. each its advantages and each can make you pretty rich. it's alot of work AND money to do both... if you're leaning towards both or just med, i'd say go with northwestern. however, if you're leaning towards business only, definitely stern!!

i can't tell you if you'd get into northwestern with those stats, cause well i never applied there. but as an incoming stern freshman, i'd say you'd probably need to raise your SATs to 2100. if you have a high 1300 you'd have a pretty decent chance ED as long as you have e.c. and leadership roles within them.

best of luck!!!

Northwestern is considered one of the "core schools" by 4 of those 6 firms (McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, Booz Allen Hamilton, Monitor Group and Mercer Management Consulting) whereas NYU isn't found anywhere.

Also if one looks at US News MBA ranking, NYU's peer assessment score is kinda low (like 3.7 out of 5), implying something may be lacking in the eyes of recruiters though I don't know what.

I don't know about Stern, but Northwestern is not the best school to apply to ED (strategically speaking). Statisically, it might look as if ED will boost your chances because the ED pool is self-selecting. However, Northwestern DOES NOT defer applicants during the ED round. It's either accept or reject. So unless you know Northwestern is absolutely right for you, I would wait off until RD (at least you would have the chance of being waitlisted...I'm not sure if NU waitlists students during the ED round).

Actually Northwestern's acceptance rate ED is much higher than RD so I don't think its that bad a strategic move at all.

I guess...I would just be a litle wary about it. I myself never applied to NU, but my friend applied ED last year and was rejected flat out. It was definitely surprising with his stats. (4.0 GPA, 2280 SAT, good EC's, etc.) It just goes to show you the admissions process is a toss up.

wow thanks for all the info. your friend was really rejected rapport wow. im still questioning if my stats are good enough for nw ed. my ec are really good..i won a lot of awards and am ranked top in ny for business (DECA) and i have done a lot of volunteering and research in hospitals so im good in both fields. im also head of a few clubs so im not worried abt ec. any input about my stats?

i could be wrong--but u def aren't a shoe-in

u could easily be sent a packing, RD, i don't think ur gonna get in

it's a lot more competitive

if financial reasons aren't an issue and if you know you like nw, what do you have to lose by applying early decision?
