Northwestern or Princeton?

I’m not saying that I disagree with your assessment - but I am just going off of my personal experiences, and that I have heard from others.

Caltech has its quirks, but I personally have found the classes to be on par with what I had while at NU. The research? Well that’s another thing entirely. Regarding Princeton, my UG advisor went there and basically told me everything I wrote above. I also have had a number of friends who have gone there who will attest to what I said. When I visited Princeton (twice for UG and G) I found the environment to be similar to what they detailed. Just my opinions and life observations. You’re certainly entitled to yours.

Outside the Midwest, a Princeton degree will no doubt hold more weight than a Northwestern one. That said, going to a school that sends 5-10% of its class yearly to Princeton, I would probably choose Northwestern if cost wasn’t a factor simply because I know I will hate my 4 years at any one of HYPSM (just as I hate having been humbled by my high school), and I’m confident the quality of education will be the same at both.

And the Lake.

"If you can get into Princeton, I don’t know why you are asking this question… "

Yes, Ditto!
