I am trying to decide between Northwestern and UVA and cannot come to a full decision. I live in New York so I think I can withstand the cold. I am going into engineering as a major and am also interested in music (singing). Post with any help. Thanks.

Well NU has a double major program in Engineering and Music. I have a couple friends doing it. Northwestern's Music school is one of the best in the country as well. NU is also well above UVA for engineering.

I was deciding between UVa and Northwestern too. Even though UVa gave me a little bit better financial aid, I decided to go with Northwestern. Even though there are many things I like about UVa, I think Northwestern is a better fit for me as a person.

Not to mention Northwestern's superior location..

Not to mention Northwestern's freezing location..

For engineering, theres no comparison. Go to NU.

yeah i have the same decision and it's tough to make. i'm in the echols program (undecided major), so the lack of distribution req's is a big plus, and it's 10 grand cheaper per year, even with out of state tuition/travel included... but i think that NU's academics are a little bit better once i can decide a major.

Sorry for wasting space/time, just wanted to commiserate. it's a tough choice.

A guy my mom works with recently graduated from UVa. He was actually waitlisted there and accepted at Northwestern (and he's in-state - interesting). He got off the waitlist and went to UVa. He said he liked the weather, the people, and it was cheaper and closer to home. He did engineering and actually I think he dropped out because it was too difficult and went for a math major instead! Haha. Now he's an actuary. So I think you'll be challenged at either school. If UVa is significantly cheaper/you like it better, then I wouldn't choose Northwestern over it because of prestige.

Northwestern has one of the best engineering and music programs in the country! Go to NU! Chicago is the best city in America! Without a doubt!

Yeah NU without a doubt.
