Those are the only ones worth mentioning really.

I could tell my dad was disappointed with my choice, my brother couldn't care less, but in the end, I didn't want to end up in the boonies and Chicago seemed like a great city for me.

Although, it is sometimes a little frustrating dealing with folks here in NJ who aren't acquainted with Northwestern as a university on par with some of my other choices. I always have to say, "really it's at the very least 'good as' Cornell, better in a lot of areas actually," but they usually dismiss me with an awkward smile or a nod. Anybody else ever get this kind of response where you live?

in my area, Northwestern ellicits as much respect as Cornell if NOT MORE!!

I see you are from NJ, NUbie. Where I live (in NJ) hardly anyone has ever heard of NU and they consistently get it confused with Northeastern. You must live in a more enlightened area!

I know exactly what you mean. So when I tell people I'm going to Northwestern and I see them about to say, "In Boston?" I cut them off with "In Chicago" at baw.

From the average Jersey layman, Northwestern certainly does not get enough credit as it should, but it's not the average layman that I'm trying to impress so it evens out. Besides I'm not the first in my family to have had to deal with this kind of thing. My brother used to get the same response with his school. A lady at our church thought Duke was in England. Gotta love the Garden State.

Haha, that gave me a laugh.

I live in socal, and yeah, most highly educated people know how great NU is. Others have no idea. Some noob lady asked my brother where I am going for school in the fall. When he told her "Northwestern," the lady asked him, "oh, is that an art school?"
What the FUDGE?
