Northwestern Pre-Meds

Does anyone have any experience with declaring themselves as a pre med student at northwestern. I took a tour their today, and was kind of unclear and had questions about pre meds at the school. I know about the HPME but dont think i could get into that. Any input would help..

Also does anyone know anybody thats majored in biomedical sciences. I want to a marquette open house and this seemed like a great program for pre meds. I heard that only a few schools have this major.

Thanks.

What are you asking specifically? There are quite a few pre-meds here, and they major in all types of things, from BME to Chemistry to Psych.

Your major doesn’t really matter; econ, psych, bio, english, math, whatever. It has very little bearing on being ‘pre-med’. People of every major get into medical school.

What exactly do you mean “declaring themselves as a pre med student”? You don’t really have to “declare” anything, unless maybe the school has a committee that requires you to do so in order to get a committee letter of recommendation. Otherwise, you just take the required classes and the MCAT and apply to medical schools.

I’m not specifically asking anything. I’m wondering if anyone who was/is pre-med at northwestern could just discuss the route they felt comfortable, if they did any type of research, joined any type of group or society…

By “declaring your self pre-med” i meant to say that you have the intention of going to med school.
