So what do you think my chances are? Please let me know. Do not hesitate to be harsh or realistic in your posts. If there's anything else I should add, please let me know. Thanksin advance and good luck this year to all seniors applying RD.

You're kind of... psycho amazing. But what's your hook?

um...hook.

Well I think I have lots of leadership in non-academic clubs for an asian male. Also CTD could be a hook because I know some teachers at NU.

I think RHandscom was being sarcastic, and joking, you took it too seriously! You should have much of a problem getting in!

haha thanks. That's reassuring. Knowing I have much of problem getting in....yikes

speaking of yikes...Northwestern sure has a lot of essays..

What's the Harvard Book Prize?

oh ooops. I ment to say you shouldN't have much of a problem getting in! Sorry

Harvard Book Prize was this award given to high schools around the country. 3 people from the top of my class were nominated; I was one of them. We submitted something like a mini-app, sort of like what I typed up here, but in more detail. Then a few weeks later, the other two were awarded "finalist" certificates and I was awarded the prize, which was "Making the Most of College," a book by Richard J. Light, a professor at Harvard.

If you want more information, just google "Harvard Book Prize." This was given to me by the Harvard Club of Chicago, and I think 27 kids in Chicago received the prize (aabout 1900 internationally).

Other schools have book prizes too. Another student got the Swarthmore Book Prize, and someone else got the Dartmouth Book Prize.

heyy u have good chances...i just into northwestern ED

I don't get it. Something called "Making the Most of College" seems like it should be directed at kids who are struggling but aspiring to pursue higher education, not kids who are basically amazing and will probably be okay in college. Oh well. Congrats on the prize thingie. Good luck on your app.
