Personally, I wouldn’t mind the waiting if I truly knew when it was going to end
How do we know that the decision is out today? Any official confirmation?
@Heisenber1700 Nothing official, its all speculation at this point (although its backed by past years). I just want to know at this point.
Will decision come out today for sure? Super nervous until yesterday D got accepted by WashU Olin business, NW is also her favorite school so fingers crossed and good luck everyone including my DD.
@wingjuer Congrats on WashU!!
I really REALLY hope they release decisions today…I was deferred ED, and it feels like I have been waiting for an eternity
@pedagogy thanks, and hope luck continues today
I was talking to an admission counselor last friday and they said they’re still reviewing
they could have finished by then???
that’s definitely probable, I guess we’ll find out in several hours
Has anyone learned from any NU sources, or counselors with access to NU admissions, how many ED applicants were deferred?
I could be wrong, but I believe the application portal’s info on decisions was edited yesterday. If I remember correctly, it used to say we’d get a decision by “late March/early April” but now only says “late March”. Could be a sign we’re getting it today!
Does Northwestern waitlist a lot of applicants like Wash U?
Was there any notification that decisions would be released last year? Or did it also show up unexpectedly?
My take, Northwestern has historically 33% lower acceptance rate (~10%) then Wash U (~15%). Northwestern EDs filled 1/2 class. It will be another nail biter.
I believe the number of deferred applicants was quite high this year based on the number of students I know were deferred as well as anecdotally.
In 2017, NU offered 2,905 applicants a place on the waiting list. 1,892 of these accepted a place on the waiting list and 65 were admitted.
Last year NU released the Thursday before they went on spring break. Their break is a week later this year, which would be next week.
Next Thursday would also be late march
that makes sense to me but…
