Northwestern Social Life

I applied ED to Northwestern and I am wondering about the social life. I am very sociable and like going out to parties, going to sporting events and tailgating, and going out every night of the weekend. How common is this at Northwestern? Is there a vibrant social life? I am really looking for a classic college experience with a lot going on. I am also interested in greek life, but I want to know if there are a lot of options on the weekends and during the week at NU.

Thank you

I believe that most NU students work hard and play hard

As a freshman at NU, I’d say this: that environment you are looking for is there if you want to be a part of it. The basketball games and football games might not have the biggest student turnouts compared to other Big Ten or power conference school, but it’s definitely a solid environment for games, especially once the basketball arena renovations are done it will be awesome. On the party side of things, I know people who definitely go to parties every night they can, and there is almost always something in the party scene going on, whether on weekdays or weekends. A lot of that is through the frats, which are pretty prevalent (not weird if you are in one, not weird if you aren’t type of thing) on campus, though there are other events too.

If you are looking for a huge party School, Northwestern falls short of that. But there is definitely a pretty vibrant social life for everyone.
