Hey everyone! Happy Thanksgiving to all celebrating! I was wondering if anyone knows if the Medill Summer Journalism is a competitive program to get into and if its worth the time and money. Also, if you’re accepted into this program, does it give you an admission boost if you apply Medill ED?
50% acceptance rate. 25 applied early decision this year, 13 got in. 50% acceptance vs 35 for the rest of the school, so maybe it helps a little but they cannot accept everyone. They’re probably not going to take the last 15% of 50 accepted to the summer program
hey @js1029 I did this program last summer!! It was a lot of money, but my parents and I totally agree that it was worth all of the money that we paid for it. While you can’t guarantee admission to Medill based off participating in the program, I did talk with an admissions counselor, and he told me that something Northwestern considers during the application process is demonstrated interest in the school. He said that a 5 week program at the school is about as much interest as you can demonstrate! I applied to NU (obviously haven’t heard back yet) but even if I don’t get in I will always hold Medill/Evanston/Northwestern as a whole very dear to my heart because of the program!!
btw check out the website my group of Cherubs made for the summer program

Do you know the deadline for early decision applications? The Medill Cherubs 2016 brochure only states the regular deadline, which is in March.
