Northwestern Supplement (NEED MAJOR HELP WILL HELP BACK)

Okay so the prompt is:
What are the unique qualities of Northwestern - and of the specific undergraduate school to which you are applying - that make you want to attend the University? In what ways do you hope to take advantage of the qualities you have identified? (300 words)

And here is my essay:
It was during my junior year that I learned about a phenomenon referred to as Gestalt psychology. For reasons beyond my comprehension, this idea has always loomed in the back of my mind. Simply put, Gestalt psychology states that the whole is greater than the sum of its individual parts, and while this theory refers to basic human behavior, it is still very much applicable to Northwestern. With this notion, NU is essentially the “whole” and the students are the “individual parts.”

Although I had noticed the close sense of community when I visited the campus, Northwestern does not follow the principles of Gestalt psychology. Northwestern’s philosophy caters to the needs of its students—as demonstrated by its student organizations, with its athletic scene (specifically in golf and martial arts) and Muslim-cultural Student Association as the two that highly peak my interests. NU’s accepting and diverse nature makes me comfortable as a Muslim-American student, and allows me to interact with a plethora of cultures while sharing an unconventional perspective of my own.

In regards to academics, I would further develop myself as a well-rounded student with Northwestern’s unique dual degree program. I could pursue my love for American history or psychology at the WCAS while utilizing a collaboration of creativity and rationale at the McCormick School of Engineering. My passion for various academic disciplines makes me believe that I’m a solid candidate because NU encourages the integration of logic and imagination that is offered in these undergraduate schools.

Ultimately, Northwestern’s student organizations and academic opportunities prove that it rejects the idea of Gestalt psychology; rather, it supports the idea that the whole and its individual elements coexist with equal significance. It is in this environment that I hope to grow as an intellect, while bringing a unique perspective to Northwestern University.

Any feedback is helpful

@fatimakhan I really enjoyed reading your essay- especially the first paragraph.
However, I think your essay would be much better if you wrote about what you wanted to do in the future and how studying at NU would help you achieve that. Have you decided on a major/do you have a specific goal for the future?

@MelissaGordon I totally agree. I applied undeclared so that’s why I didn’t include specifics but I changed the third paragraph to this:

In regards to academics, I would further develop myself as a well-rounded student by taking advantage of the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences’ liberal arts curriculum coupled with opportunities for scientific research. For instance, the Cognitive Neuroscience Lab would allow me to apply aspects of psychology into the realm of science. Due to the unique distribution requirements of WCAS, I plan on pursuing my love for American history and psychology while still focusing my academic career on science. I believe that I am a solid candidate for NU due to its encouragement of integrating logic and imagination that is parallel to my own passion for various academic disciplines.

Is it a little more specific? Thanks for input :-))

The word you want is pique, not peak.
