Northwestern Thread for Transfer Students

racnna: maybe you should re-take them if you did absolutely horrible, but if you've gone up to diff equations I'm pretty sure it won't play a large part in your case for admission.

same question here
if we still haven't heard back...is that most likely a rejection?

ahh i sure hope not. last year, people still were accepted at the end of june...

I wouldn't take it as a rejection, it is rolling admissions, and they have until July 1st to notify you.

i got in today!

superman, ru gonna go?

eanicich - I'm hoping to visit this weekend...I'm pretty excited. Do you think a Friday-Sunday is enough? I've never visited a college outside of NYC before so I don't really know what to do other than the tour and information session. I'll probably stay in Chicago cause I've been there before and I want to explore the city. I'm thinking I'll get there Friday, spend the night in Chicago, go to Evanston and look around NU Saturday, go back to Chicago for Sat. night and Sunday afternoon. Does this make sense?

Also, has any one else gotten their credit evaluations yet? They said I should get it within a week of my acceptance letter, and tomorrow is the 7th day...

Not me, but thats because they probably haven't recieved my final transcript yet (my school sent it out last friday).

Do you think we will get campus housing? I really hope so..
I was also stupid enough to overlook the fact that we had to call or email housing to get us on the waiting list. I just did it yesterday, hope I am not too late.

I received my transfer evaluation report on Saturday. According to it, I would be starting next year with 11 units.

Who? What? What e-mail address?

I had no clue. =/

Hey everyone, I visited campus a couple weeks ago and spoke directly to one of the housing directors. She said that ALL transfers will be notified via email sometime during the summer to apply for housing.

taromakino- Don't worry. She said that all transfers who have housing needs will be taken care of. That's not to say that you will get your first choice of housing.

Run4Fun- I was confused at first when I received my transfer evaluation report. It said something like 19 units...and was like "no way I have about 100 transferable quarter units"...I some realized that was the number of classes that were transferring. I'm not sure if that was at all confusing for you or not...just thought I would mention it.

jacknjill- I think Fri-Sun is fine. That was about as long as I was there and the campus is relatively small so seeing everything shouldn't be a problem. I had time to visit the campus twice, go walk around downtown Chicago, and party/spend the night with my friend who goes to the University of Chicago. If at all possible I would suggest going on campus Friday if you are there and seeing the student body in and around campus (summer school should be in session) One of the most insightful things I did was sit for an hour or two and just people watch. You can learn a lot about a school by doing just that. Good luck and have fun! BTW it's so hot over there right now.

oh really? how many kids go there?

This is goldcoast. I am a returning adult transfer. High school pretty

bad. Though I have a 3.1 from depaul not good. Though I have a 3.6 gpa

from loyola then a 3.8 from a community college. The average is around

3.6.8 which rounds to 3.7. I also published a poem which I

showed nu. Do I have a chance? My high school experience and depaul

was twelve years ago. Became a real estate entreupner during my break.

what are the acceptance rates for NU for transfer students?

goldcoast, please refrain from writing your admissions essay in a similar style to your last post.

I also received an email saying that housing will not be something to worry about, and that the undergraduate office screwed up by saying we have to add ourselves to a waiting list (not true).

I have 14 transferable units so far, but I took 6 classes last semester which are not accounted for yet, and 2 this summer. All the classes I took recently should transfer, so I guess I will have 22 units? Hopefully I can graduate in two years. Anyone know what the unit requirement to graduate is? I have finished IGETC and completed my associates degree, so hopefully I have the general ed covered and can jump into my major courses right away.

I got in!!! yayayay! Geez, I'm still in shock! I really thought that I didn't have a chance.

still waiting on my decision...

for those who got in
can you find your admission decisions on the applicant services webpage?

Goldcoast to Taromako

I will write my post again since I was writing it very late. I hope it is

alright with you. I am a returning adult transfer. My gpa at depaul was

3.1. My high school transcript grades were not good neither was my

depaul grades. Though I studied hard at loyola with a 3.6 and at truman

college with 3.8. Also worth noting was my recent published poem. I had

a successful real estate developer career which I pursued during my hiatus.

My high school and depaul experience were more than a decade ago. Do

I have a chance at nu?
