I’m still filling out the application, but I had a question about the activities. I want to apply to Medill as a journalism major. I am in 6 clubs at college all related to the journalism field, from radio, tv and newspaper. Should I include all 6 of those journalism clubs in the activities section of the common app or include some non-journalism clubs (i.e. Model U.N., debate team, etc.) from high school to keep my activites diverse. I’m so conflicted on this. Help. thanks!

Hey, I got a fairly good ACT but I wanted to take it again to make my application more competitive. I’m a HS senior right now so I will probably take the ACT again in Sept. this fall-ish, but that’s when I’ll be in college. Will NU accept this new ACT or will they only take ACTs from high school?

I’m kind of confused. What does ROLLING exactly mean? The earilier the applicaiton is complete, the earlier it will be reviewed and a better chance to be accepted? Thanks!

@ giantpeach
i think so… especially colleges like Northwestern where there’s not alot of transfer spaces

anyone know when decisions come out? or like when they came out last year?

really? I heard they have a lot spaces though, cause people transfer because of the cold weather

but Northwestern itself is such a smalllllll private school
plus on the website it says that they admit quite a small number of transfer applicants
dunno… i still havent mail my stuff yet haha

on college *******, it said that out of about 900 transfer apps, approx. 300 were admitted, so about 1/3. I don’t know how accurate this figure is, though.
Anyways, good luck! I hope to transfer there one day.

how come it doesn’t let me write p.r. owler?

haha cos it has blocked us from write down other sites
wow i do hope they have 1/3 admittance rate!!! and 900 applicants seem such a small number compared to other schools of the same tier

actually if you check common data set
it says during 08~09: 1151 applied, 253 accepted…so it’s not that bad…i think…?

^^ so about 22% ? not horribly bad, I don’t think. but lower than their freshman acceptance rate, right?
anyways, again, good luck to everyone =]

I ended up retaking my ACT and scoring a 29 composite. What are my chances of transferring into NU with these credentials:

3.93 UW GPA (High school)
29 ACT
Top 8% class rank

At DePaul, I currently have a 4.0 (took dual enrollment for English 101 and 102). I will attend DePaul in the fall of 2010 and will stay a here before applying to transfer. Additionally, I’m in DePaul’s honors college and honors accounting program. If I keep my GPA upward of 3.8 and participate in several ECs, would I have a good chance?

“I’m kind of confused. What does ROLLING exactly mean?”

Rolling means taking MDMA (ecstasy).

Is anyone else still finishing up their application?

Are transcripts, letter of recommendations and the College Official’s Report supposed to be postmarked by May 1 or IN by May 1?

The latter, I believe. At least, for other schools, it’s usually the postmark. However, it’s always best to have it IN by the deadline. Why not have it faxed? Much quicker. Obviously you can’t fax it yourself, but I requested that my dean fax the appropriate documents and she did. I called later and confirmed their receipt.

I called today, they said decisions will be sent out in 2-3 weeks! thats a lot earlier than I expected

Really? WOW. Well they probably meant that they will start sending out decisions in 2-3 weeks and that process will probably drag on for a while…

Hey! Does anyone know if being wait-listed the first time makes you a better candidate to be admitted as a transfer student? I am trying to figure out if I will get in or not for the fall…
