I’m not putting too much hope into Northwestern. Even though it is my dream school, I fear we’ll be up against a lot of pintarselacara’s. I think my only real hook is that I’m hispanic, but that’s not much

yeah, that is eerily remarkable similar to my stats… They claim that they do not discriminate or favor anyone based on any ethnic group (carefully avoiding the term race since it is an artificial construct that has no biological validity).

Well, if I get in you should get in… and conversely, if you get in I as well should get in. It depends. My safety school is University of Arizona. It caught my interest because it has a support Group called the SALT program that specializes in supporting students that have ADD i.e. counseling services and support centers.

Edit:

and I got rejected to U of C, so that is my inspiration to all of you. Are Northwestern and U of C similar in transfer qualifications/stats?

I read through this thread a couple of months back and the OP mentioned that Northwestern leaves a lot of spots open for transfer students.
Couple that with the fact that Northwestern doesn’t usually offer transfer students benevolent financial aid packages (this year seems to be different) and that a lot of current Northwestern students might want to try to transfer into Ivy League schools they were initially rejected from and maybe we stand a shot, even though we’ve got less going for us than applicants with perfect GPAs, strong standardized test scores and superior HS records.

I guess I lied, I am being hopeful. Well, best of luck dlbecker, hopefully we can both get in

Perhaps this has something to do with all these acceptances being WCAS, but how can acceptances be coming out already if NU is supposed to wait for current semester grades?

these aren’t acceptances yet…people are just posting stats. i don’t think the decisions will be mailed for everyone in two weeks because most people won’t be finished with finals.

Do you need to send in your current semester grades before a decision is made? I didnt see it on the website? thanks

Just dropping in to say good luck. I was enjoying this lovely wait 6 months ago (the 6 months since have been some of the fastest-moving in my life, I can hardly believe it’s already may). I transferred with a 3.6 over four quarters and a 2090/1460 SAT, which doesn’t really mean a whole lot (college GPAs are DEFINITELY apples and oranges) I don’t think any of you are out of the running.

hey sirsteveh! thanks. do you mind posting complete stats? it probably isn’t everything for NU, but it would be interesting to know? haha. did you have a bajillion ECs?

I would also like to know if we need to send our spring term grades in before decisions are made?

@thewoman:

3.83 weighted HS GPA (forgot unweighted a long, long time ago)

65.0 credits from the University of Washington at a total GPA of 3.41 (at the time of application, it was 50 credits @ 3.61; I took Real Analysis and a French class with a crappy prof my last quarter). 2 quarters of physics, Calc III + 5 math classes beyond that, 3 upper-div French, and 3 CSE courses.

2 community college programming courses from high school (not used towards requirements) @ 4.00

Score of 5 on AP Computer Science A/AB, French Language, Calc AB, US History, Macroecon.

SAT: CR 700 M 760 W 630; French 680, US History 690, Math II 800.

Activities: Putnam Prep, ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest, church tech crew volunteering, Guitar, French reading/writing (the last two aren’t organized, but that hardly stopped me). There were a couple more, but it came down to trying to “sell” what I already did rather than join clubs to boost my r

Rejected, just got the letter today.
Oh that really stinks. Northwestern was my dream school
If only I had done better on my SATs and SAT Subject Tests 3 years ago

dreamingbig, what were your stats? and what school did you apply to? if you don’t mind me asking. i’m just curious.

Also, when did you send in your app? So sorry about the rejection :(

DreamingBig, I’m really sorry to hear that. Did you send in your spring grades?
