Figured I would start this… anyone else trying to transfer?
I’ll be applying for transferring Fall 2017 Also applying to Vanderbilt, UW Madison, and Belmont
I’ll be applying! Does anyone know if applying at junior standing matters and if transferring into Medill from another university is even heard of? I know its already hard for internal transfers
Does applying with freshman standing matter?
I’m applying to NU’s SESP, I’ll be a sophomore next year
I’ll get in on this (please chance me);

Guys, did y’all see that transfer students generally don’t get financial aid their first year transferring??
http://admissions.northwestern.edu/faqs/transferring-to-northwestern/index.html
“Northwestern grant assistance is generally not available to transfer students during their first year at the University.”
*need based financial aid from NU
Just submitted my application!
@eandreano1 congrats! I actually may not apply because the process seems so competitive.
Nevermind, submitted my application today!
Guys what’s Academic Evaluation in the required docs for transfer? Is that rec letter from college professor or else? Also does anyone know if NW require certain courses taken (like English/Science/ Writing…) when you apply or before you can register?
@Just4Years think they’re lenient, but I know they have a language requirement. Require college report and college instructor evaluation.
@SeinfeldFan1 There is no language requirement. I’ve talked with admissions and confirmed this. There are quite literally no requirement, actually, which is nice because personally I’m taking a very major-course heavy schedule.
Anyways, here’s my profile. I’m currently a first-year. I got deferred then rejected last year, most likely because of a
terrible dip in senior year grades.
College: UC San Diego
Gpa: 3.75 (21 units completed in my first quarter here, but I have 5X units total on my transcript) (All A or A+, one B- )
Major: Mathematics-Computer Science
Highschool gpa: 3.78 (top 10 high school in california by us news)
ACT: 35
SAT: 2290
EC:
- Worked at a large high-tech company in Silicon Valley as a contract hardware test engineer last summer
- Dancesport (ballrom dance) Team at UCSD
- Orchestra club at UCSD
Are we supposed to include high school activities as well? Or just our college ones. Cuz I have a lot less stuff from college than I do from high school right now.
Best of luck to everyone!
Hey guys
Just submitted my application to Northwestern. Don’t have much hope, but feeling anxious nonetheless.
Current school: NYU
College GPA: 3.675
Midterm Report: 4.00
HS GPA: 3.68 W (rigorous private boarding school)
ACT: 33
EC’s: Good amount
Intended major was a double major in international studies and urban planning with a minor in Asian studies. I feel like my Northwestern essay was strong and highlighted why I wanted to go there specifically. I feel like overall my high school record is going to ruin my chances, since I am applying as rising sophomore. Oh well. We will see soon enough I guess.
Has anyone received an email from northwestern about an online portal or something where we can check to see what materials they have? I applied about a week ago and have yet to receive anything from them
@aftfl12 i don’t think they have this type of system in place. I think they will simply email you if you’re missing materials, and you can always email them.
Emailed NU about it, here’s the automated response which answered the question:
"Due to the high volume of e-mails we receive, we may be delayed in responding to your inquiry. However, your message is important to us and we will respond to you as soon as possible.
Regular Decision applications are currently under review and decisions will be released by late March.
We notified Regular Decision applicants via e-mail in early February if an application was missing any items. We do not offer an online application status portal. Decisions will be released for Regular Decision applicants by late March.
Much of our communication with applicants comes through e-mail. Please add ug-admission@northwestern.edu and ug-admission@ugadm.northwestern.edu to your e-mail contact list to ensure you receive our messages."
Highlight: We do not offer an online application status portal
